Hacking and phishing attacks are becoming a much more prevalent threat in the personal and business worlds. In early 2021, a phishing attack shut down many businesses in New England (including a pivotal gas pipeline creating fuel shortages). However, hackers are not the only threat. Almost all internet-based services store and sell user data to advertisers (this happens when you click allow the cookies when visiting a website). This information may be personal or proprietary to a business. Consequently, protecting your and your employer’s privacy is necessary.
To talk about this, I appeared on Micah DeBoer’s blog, Privacy4All. Micah is a sophomore Electrical Engineering student at SD Mines. He interviewed me about what steps I have taken to protect myself online. We also discussed what training I have in this area and why it is important. Our conversation can be found at: https://privacy4all.notepin.co/ (titled Privacy Interview) and viewed in the video below.
For more information on digital security check out the rest of Privacy4All. I have already used information he shared with me to secure the my personal internet activity.
